Venue 39 Cafe sits quietly tucked away on Peterboat Close in London’s SE10 area, offering a relaxed spot that blends casual dining with a social vibe. It functions primarily as a cafe, but it feels more like a versatile neighborhood hub where locals come not just for food but also to unwind, chat, and even play games.

The atmosphere here is informal and inviting, with an open loft space that lends a light, airy feel perfect for laid-back mornings or slow afternoon visits. There’s a clear sense that this is a place where community matters—whether you're popping in for a hearty English breakfast or lingering over a bagel and coffee alongside friends. The friendly tone set by the owner, who also cooks, creates a welcoming environment where special dietary requests are handled flexibly and thoughtfully.

Menu highlights focus on comfort food with a twist—think classic English breakfast elements done well, alongside more eclectic choices like Chinese pork noodles, mac ’n cheese, and unique sides like coconut rice pudding. Such variety means Venue 39 suits a diverse local crowd, from those wanting a substantial breakfast to others seeking a familiar, homey lunch or snack. The quality of ingredients and freshness come through clearly, making it a fitting spot for both regular weekday visits and casual weekend meetups.

The cafe’s atmosphere is further enhanced by touches like board games scattered around, which encourage a slower pace and social interaction. This makes it a fitting stop for anyone looking for more than just a quick coffee—families, friends, or anyone aiming to enjoy a communal space that feels unhurried and friendly.

Weekday mornings and weekend midday hours seem best for those who want to experience Venue 39’s full energy—buzzing gently with locals who appreciate the thoughtful, passion-driven cooking and approachable setting. Given its location near Greenwich and quiet side street, it also works well as a recovery spot after a visit to nearby attractions or a casual catch-up place away from busier main streets.

Finally, a proper English breakfast! I had an absolutely amazing English breakfast at Venue 39 Café – probably the most authentic and delicious one I’ve ever had. Everything was super fresh, cooked to order, and you can really taste the quality in every bite. The owner is also the chef, and you can tell he puts real passion into everything he does. He’s friendly, welcoming, and knows how to make you feel at home. The café itself is truly one of a kind, with a unique vibe and attention to detail that sets it apart from any other place in the area. Highly recommended if you’re looking for genuine food, great atmosphere, and a memorable experience. I’ll definitely be back!

ABSOLUTE FAVOURITE in London This place is the only restaurant in London where I can pick anything from the menu, because I like every single option and I know whatever I choose it will taste delicious. The owner is a very friendly and kind person, always happy to adjust to any special requests and his recommendations are always on top. All the foods are made with care and passion with attention to every detail. First time I went I was blown away, so the second time I had higher expectations and yet again he exceeded my high expectations. SUPER FRESH INGREDIENTS, VERY TASTY FOOD, GREAT PORTION SIZES, VERSATILE MENU. I love that no matter what I order it tastes just perfect- main not too spicy, sides not oily, dessert not too sweet. The place itself is not easy to find, but the interior is very cosy and welcoming, feels like going to a friend’s house where you have the dining area and in the back room for resting and playing with table tennis, fussball, comfy sitting area. Bathroom is very clean and neat. I live up North London but this place is worth the trip!! So HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

A hidden gem! Fantastic service, very welcoming and great food at reasonable prices. Really considerate in terms of Covid-19, loads of spacing and hand sanitiser etc., we felt completely safe. The menu is great and the chef was very happy to be flexible and creative to our tastes and diets. The large and open loft space is really chilled, plenty of games to play while your food is being prepared. There are 3 ping pong tables, a chess board, table football, many other games i'm sure and unusual artwork too! The location is tucked just within the industrial estate, next to a 'closed' sign (at least this was the case in Aug20) - although it is open!.. don't be fooled. We will be back again ASAP.

I got the English breakfast and it was fantastic! The latte was great as well. The wait may be a little longer since it seems the cafe is a one-man operation but we weren’t in a rush. Lovely overall!

A great little secret place. The entrance is hidden, but what a great space with ping pong tables, chilled, relaxed, and cool hang out. The chef was so accommodating, lovely and even made a gluten free omelette option too. The food was superb! I really don’t want to post to let this secret of a little gem “get out”

Didn’t know this gem was here. Pop in to Two tyres to get a new set of tyres and the guy in there said about this place. I ordered the fully Monty and a cup of tea. The food is cooked in front of you and a nice slap of butter for you to butter your toast. It was good quality ingredients used full of favour. There is a football table in here as well as table tennis. Would definitely eat here again. Good place to wait while you bike is being serviced by the many of motorcycles workshops here.
